Does Patriotism Matter?
Just think walking on to that ship thinking will I ever come back, will I ever see my friends and family again? We send people over to fight for patriotism every day. We have fought for patriotism since the beginning of man to the declaration of independence to even today and will fight for it for Patriotism tomorrow. To begin with the Declaration of Independence was one of the great patriotism acts almost ever. It took several years to fight the years for fighting the British to fight for our independence. Just think signing the independence of a new country. After the war 56 people signed the Declaration of Independence to say we fought for our Patriotism, freedom, and speaking freely. After the war the US fought for the many different skin color we have in the US today. This war was called the Civil War. During the civil war the US was divided in to two to fight for the freedom of slavery. Even today we our fighting for the freedom of color, women, and even religion. Right now we are fighting to kill the man in charge of 911. You don’t have to be a soldier to help or believe patriotism. You can help other people, give money to support the army, or just be a helpful or nice person. You could be a nice person by cleaning up the trash and throw it away and not just throw your trash there. Without patriotism this world would be nothing like the world today. There would no freedom no rights and maybe even the technology we have today, because no one would share there creations to the world, so does patriotism matter?

Facing Your Dad
Everyone lies at least once in their life, but yet to see what lies do leaves you wondering whether or not you should tell them. Have you ever lied? Many people think little lies is not a big deal, but when one lie has happened more come to protect the first. Some individuals could relate to the main character of the short story “The Lie” by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., because of the pressures of getting into the best school in the area. Regardless of the consequence, it is always best to tell the truth. To begin with, all parents want their son or daughter to get in a good school, but when Eli’s parents want him to go to a school that his ancestors and his Dad have been going to, the pressures is on to pass entrance exam. But when he does not get into the school he tears up the letters, so his parents didn’t find out. Just like Eli my parents wanted me to join Troop 275 for boy scouts, but I wanted to go to troop 13, because they seemed more fun, then they said “boy scouting is serious not fun and games”, it was hard to stand up to my parents, but I went with my gut and went to troop 13 for boy scouts. Many people would of thought that Eli did not have the guts to tell his parents, but Eli did not want to get yelled at by his parents so he lied. When they got to the school to look around, he ran away from his parents hoping that his parents. Like some pets the will hide from you or go in your cage, because they know they did something bad. When Eli’s parents found out that Eli did lie and through away the letter and not tell his parents, But his parents understand that why he through the letter, because he had so much pensioner to getting into the school he thought his parent would kill him if he did not get in but they understood and forgave him. Many people lie to make their self better or to get them out of doing something. But many people don’t think what it can do. It can tell people that you are untruthful and they might think you’re not responsible and not trust you.
